Alma Rita Majcherek, age 86 of Warren, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. She was born February 16, 1931 in Greenway, Arkansas, daughter of the late Earl and the late Beulah (nee: Lovelady) Eubanks.
The story of taking on the Majcherek name comes from a fateful meeting that set the vibes of romance in motion one day at a local dating mecca, the infamous Pampa Lanes in Warren. Bowling alleys are always a great venue for those initial get-togethers, often in the company of friends, and where it goes from there lies solely in the hearts of those pierced by Cupid's arrow. And pierced they were which blossomed into love and led them to marriage, a second beginning for them both. Alma was a mere 40 years old when she promised herself to the dashing John Majcherek in a loving ceremony that was held in August of 1971. With a blended family and their hearts set upon the stars, these two lovebirds began anew on a journey they would share for the next 46 years together,…a journey that provided each of them another opportunity to love and be loved.
Alma was a person who understood the meaning of a strong work ethos,…whether at home tending to the needs and responsibilities of home & hearth,…or on the job extending the utmost in service excellence, which she did for years as a machine operator in the plastics industry.
When she wasn't working, Alma enjoyed a number of pastimes that were earned after devoting herself to the work at hand,…one of which was the joy of shopping. She absolutely LOVED shopping, primarily when it came to clothing. Alma had wonderful, stylish tastes when it came to picking out ensembles and adding them to her clothes closets at home. But the one downfall to this favorite activity was her inability to eliminate old and unwanted pieces to make room for the new ones. So eventually, the basement became the "Clothes Cave" and represented the fruits of Alma's labors. Yes, she loved to shop!
Another favorite pastime was her love of the cinema. Together with John, these two movie buffs spent countless hours at the local theaters adding movie after movie to their cinematic repertoire and growing more and more astute in their knowledge of film.
Travel was another shared pastime with John that brought Alma a great deal of pleasure as they motored their way across America, quite often on their treks to Arkansas and Arizona,…and to many scenic highlights in between. Navigating the states in their comfy motor home made for many wonderful memories as they expanded their travel portfolio together.
Yet of all the pastimes Alma enjoyed the most, little could hold a candle to the incredible memories made on the various dance floors that she and John frequented. Dancing brought Alma an immeasurable amount of pleasure, and the two of them stepped out, most often, 4 times a week to trip the light fantastic and cut-a-rug! They loved attending church festivals which often provided some kind of venue for dancing. They also spent many-a-night at the Commonwealth Club tearin' it up, as well as at many of the F.O.P. events where dancing always seemed to figure in somehow. See,..being married to a Warren Police Officer certainly came with benefits.
Alma's sister Willa Mae went on ahead of her, but not before leaving her little sister a plethora of warm & wonderful memories shared together. The two were, at times, inseparable,..and just found great delight in the relationship they had built and enjoyed throughout the years. And once again, the sister's are reunited.
Considered to possess quite the outgoing personality, Alma touched a multitude of hearts and lives in her walk through life. She never knew a stranger and had a way of welcoming you into her journey with an ease of spirit and a smile that came from her sweet soul. She leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to embrace who were blessed and fortunate enough to know her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Alma was the beloved wife of John. Dear mother of Jerry (Debra) Leonowicz, Linda Earl, Rita Leonowicz, Richard Leonowicz, the late Michael Leonowicz; stepmother of Michael Majcherek, Gregory (Penny) Majcherek, Donna Lintz, the late Steven Majcherek, and she leaves a special daughter-in-law, Sandra (Earl) LaVaseur-Ferree. She was the loving grandmother of Jamie Leonowicz, Jenifer (Marvin Williams) Leonowicz, Alicia (David) Juan, David Marc (Laura) Earl, Shannon (Arthur) Valverde, Sam Majcherek, Kristin Majcherek, Jamie Majcherek, Jarret Lintz, Meagan Lintz, Scot Lintz, and was the great-grandmother of Kennedy, Addisyn, Sophia, Emma, Cameron,…and Tony, who will be brought into the world on Thursday, March 30th. Cherished sister of the late Willa Mae Adams, and aunt to Keith (Beverly) Adams and Karen Kurz.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.
