Barbara Ann Nawrocki, age 62 of Warren, died Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She was born January 21, 1957 in Detroit, daughter of the late Francis Bernard and the late Margaret Elsie (nee: Steffe) Duvall.

Barbara was just a young woman, not long out of high school, when Cupid began sharpening his arrow for the change he was about to bring her way. That change would come through the person of Alan Nawrocki,…Cupid's "agent of love," and the man who would walk by her side as her loving husband and soul mate. The two lovebirds met through a mutual friend, which led to more regular dating, and ultimately to the altar at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren where Barbara & Alan exchanged their vows and promised themselves in marriage on April 2, 1977. Their love story continued for the next 42 years until God called her home.

Together with Alan, the two were blessed with 2 beautiful boys, Jeffery & Jason, who helped complete the picture of their loving family. As life ensued, Barbara would know the blessing of becoming a Grandma to her cherished, Jason Michael Jr.

Along with her loving touch and responsibilities as a homemaker and Mom, Barbara also worked outside of the house as an office manager in a doctor's office for a physician who specializes in caring for those afflicted with cancer. Obviously, any doctor's office can be unnerving. But just imagine the anxiety that filled Barbara's office,…the immensely compassionate person it requires to comfort those in need,…and the toll it must have taken on her, a sacrifice of which she was happy to make. Yet that was the kind of woman she was, the woman everybody knew her to be. It's a testament to her humanity, her giving spirit, and the loving-kindness that spilled from her soul. And not merely at the office, but Barbara emanated a servant's heart throughout her entire life. If you knew her, chances are you were being blessed by her.

In many obituaries, it's not uncommon to read of the many pastimes the decedent held special. But for Barbara, her favorite delight could be wrapped up into one special mention,…heading up to the family property in Roscommon County and letting it all hang loose. With a few out-buildings and quaint living quarters, the main attraction for Barbara was simply exchanging the concrete jungle for a bit of Michigan's backwoods beauty, and allowing herself to unwind and refresh. The only traffic were the deer roaming through the front yard,…the loudness of the city was replaced by the beating of her heart as it took in all the splendor,…and the stresses of life were soothed by the country setting that quickened rest to her soul. It truly was her home away from home, and her little slice of Heaven here on earth.

Then there were her dogs, her little "fur-babies" who made her heart do flips and infused her soul with joy as only a pet owner can know & understand. From "Bella," her Terrier mix,…to "Bailey," her adorable Bichon Frise,…to her 2 german hot-dogs, "Sadie & Katie," the Dachshund's, Barbara's canine companions meant the world to her, and offered her a world of unconditional love and compassion that constantly melted her heart. And one day they will be reunited; for as the Disney movie promises,…"All Dogs Go To Heaven."

A loving wife, mother and Grandma, Barbara leaves behind a storehouse of warm and wonderful memories to be embraced with each reflection shared. In her own special way, she has left an imprint upon the hearts and souls of the countless people she has touched along the way. Her journey this side of Heaven was not without its struggles, but she struggles no more as she rests safe within the arms of God.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Alan Eugene Nawrocki. Dearest mother of Jeffery Alan Nawrocki and Jason Michael Nawrocki. Loving grandmother of Jason Michael Nawrocki Jr. Cherished sister of Kenneth (Molly) Duvall, and aunt of Lauren (Phil) Hatley and Lindsay (Eric) Duvall. Barbara also leaves to cherish her memory her family on Alan's side, mother-in-law, Florence Nawrocki; brothers-in-law, David and Dennis Nawrocki; daughter-in-law, Hope Nawrocki, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Barbara will be held Thursday, May 23rd from 3-9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.

She will lie in state on Friday from 9:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Mark Catholic Church, 4401 Bart Avenue in Warren.
