Beatrice Marie Conrad, age 93, died Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Vitas Hospice facility in Deerfield Beach, Florida surrounded by her loving family. Beatrice was born August 25, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Henry Dixon and the late Bessie (nee: Campbell) Dixon.

Beatrice was raised in the northern Michigan community of East Jordan. During her youth, she and her family would commute many trips between East Jordan and Detroit to visit family and the big city. After finishing her schooling at East Jordan High School, Beatrice moved to Detroit to begin her adult life. She worked as a practical nurse at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan caring for the babies in the maternity ward and neonatal unit.

Eventually, Beatrice would marry and begin a family, first settling on the east side of Detroit where she remained to raise her children between Detroit, Center Line, Warren, and Sterling Heights. Beatrice later worked for Chrysler Motors working various jobs from 1976 until her retirement in 1988 as a spot welder for the automotive company.

When Beatrice was not working, her entire life revolved around family. She loved to create big meals and bake for them. Her most favorite holiday was Thanksgiving where she would host her family and prepare a delicious Thanksgiving meal, only to be followed by her wonderful baked treats. In addition to being very talented in the kitchen, Beatrice could can vegetables and fruit, crochet, and keep an immaculate home. Her children remember Saturdays with their mother turning up the music and directing the cleaning of the family home before any outdoor fun could be had.

Beatrice loved to play cards with family and friends, especially the games of Euchre, 13, and Poker. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing, and drinking margaritas at her favorite restaurant in Florida, LaBamba's. Additionally, whenever Beatrice visited Michigan, she had to have her favorite Chinese dish... almond boneless chicken at her favorite Chinese restaurant. Beatrice was a kind, fun loving soul who will be immensely missed by her family members and friends.

Beatrice was the beloved wife of the late Mannylee Conrad, and the late Roy Chalou. She was the dear mother of Susan (Joseph) Lovelace-Thristino, Victoria DeMir, Marilyn Conrad, the late Kenneth Chalou, the late Larry Chalou, and the late Ronald Chalou. Beatrice was the loving grandmother of Annette (Greg) Kirsch, Jeanette (Michael) Mathews, Ronald Chalou, Brian (Kim) Chalou, Danielle (Dan) Gorney, Christopher Conrad, Chaylene (Kevin) Carr, and great-grandmother of David (Michele) Goga, Scott Goga, Josh DeBolt, Chelsea Wisniewski, Cory Chalou, Gavin Chalou, CJ Conrad, Carly Conrad, Caiden Velarde, Samantha Gorney, Hannah Carr, and Patrick Gorney. Further survivors include Beatrice's great-great granddaughters Henley Goga, Charlotte Stempnik - DeBolt. and many dear friends. Beatrice was predeceased by her parents and her five siblings.

Visitation for Mrs. Conrad will be held Saturday, March 23rd from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd at Common (12 1/2 mile) in Warren . Funeral Services will be held Sunday 12:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Officiating the Funeral Services will be Reverend Walter Keller.
