Carol Jeanne Graham, age 71, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Carol was born June 11, 1945 in Redford, Michigan to the late Melvin and the late Dorothy (nee: Mychko) Gruschow.

Born and raised in Detroit, Carol and her family eventually migrated north to the new and burgeoning community of East Detroit, which we all know today as Eastpointe. (Being so close to the Grosse Pointe's, the East Detroit city fathers must have been suffering from a bit of class envy in their need to rename the working class suburb, eh?) Carol was 12 when they made the move, and Eastpointe is where she would grow to maturity and continue down her path of education. The suburban lifestyle proved to be a perfect fit and it provided Carol with many wonderful friends and memories shared over the years.

There was one friendship that eventually blossomed into something quite special, a relationship she shared with a fine young man by the name of Donald Elliott. Their courting and wooing ultimately led them to the throes of marriage, and the two lovebirds enjoyed many happy years together until Donald's passing on January 1, 1976. Well,…amidst the love story being written between Carol and Donald, there was another young man, Ralph Graham, that friendship would bring into Carol's life, a friendship that was shared with both she and Donald alike. Following Don's death, Carol was compelled to move on. Grieve though she needed, Carol wasn't about to let life pass her by. So sometime soon thereafter, Carol had a chat with Cupid who managed to direct one of his life-changing arrows Ralph's way,…and the romance began. Growing deeply in love with each other, Carol and Ralph decided to make it official and shared their vows of marriage of September 11, 1976. Theirs was a special love chapter that lasted nearly 41 years until his recent death on March 20, 2017.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Carol leaves a host of loved ones behind to cherish her memory and to reflect upon the many warm and wonderful memories made throughout her life's journey. She touched the hearts of many and will be missed immensely.

Carol was the loving wife of the late Ralph Graham. Beloved mother and best friend of Shannon Dee Elliott. Dear sister of Melvin (Veronique) Chevallier-Gruschow, Anne (James) Kaye, Peggy (Tim) Chrenenko, and Dorothy "Dottie" (Martin) Cumper. Treasured grandmother of Hunter and Logan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Carol will be held Friday, May 12th from 3 - 9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren.

Please share memories at Carol's guest book above.
