Charles Anthony Lipsmeier Sr., age 80, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Charles was born October 7, 1936 in Dearborn, Michigan, son of the late Virgil Henry Lipsmeier and the late Adele Bernadine (nee: Immethun) Lipsmeier.

Charles was raised in Detroit and graduated from St. Paul's on the Lake Catholic School in Grosse Pointe. Following his schooling he studied accounting at the Walsh Institute in Detroit and later served in the United States Army Reserves for six years.

Charles would spend his career years working in the accounting field for various employers. He worked at the Lawrence Technical Institute, and later for the City of Warren. Charles' last job as an accountant was within the East Detroit Public Schools Administration and Accounting office. He worked for over 16 years for the school district before retiring.

When Charles was not working he held two very important foundation pillars in his and faith. Chuck was a quiet, "Gentle Man," the kind of guy that was immediately liked by all who came to know him. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church until the church closure.

Charles celebrated 51 years of matrimony to his beloved bride, having married on November 6, 1965. When he was not working, the two enjoyed being homebodies and occasionally traveling or taking a shipboard cruise.

Charles A. Lipsmeier Sr. was the beloved husband of Evelyn and was the dear father of Pamela Lipsmeier, Charles A. (Melissa) Lipsmeier Jr., and Jennifer (Eric) Guy. He is further survived by his brother James (Joann) Lipsmeier and his grandchildren; Jacob, Owen, David, Lucina, William, Matthew, and Rachel.

Visitation for Mr. Lipsmeier will be held Monday 3-9pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren. Mr. Lipsmeier will lie in state Tuesday 10:30am at St. Mark Catholic Church in Warren until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 11am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Stanley Obloj.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliot St. , Detroit, Michigan 48207.
