Curtis Daniel Thrift age 54 died suddenly March 3, 2018 in Huron County, Michigan due to an ATV accident. Curtis was born July 4, 1963 the son of Suzumi Sagara and the late Fred D. Thrift in Warren, Michigan.

Curtis was raised in Warren and graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren. Curtis continued his education in college attaining an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Macomb Community College. Following his education, he went to work for the Dearborn Heights Fire Department and later joined the Warren Fire Department where his father also worked. In addition to the Warren Fire Department, Curtis served as a medic in local SWAT operations. Curtis also was involved in HAZMAT, and confined space rescue missions in the area. Curtis also enjoyed working as a lab aid at Macomb Community College, helping teach those that shared the same passion of saving lives.

When Curtis was not working he truly was an outdoorsman. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved his time spent up North at Mullet Lake and running the Department Walleye Tournament on Lake St. Clair.

Curtis also loved sports. He played on the Warren Fire Department Ice Hockey, and Softball teams, and played on several teams outside of the department as well. He played outside of the department as well with his son, and several lifelong friends. You could also often find him at St. Clair Golf Club, enjoying a good cigar.

Curtis was the loving husband of Tina Thrift (nee: Weglarz) and the cherished father of Dylan Thrift. He was the beloved son of Suzumi Sagara and the late Fred D. Thrift. Curtis is also survived by many dear family members, friends, and fellow firefighters.
