Daniel Michael Chambers, age 53, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Daniel was born October 2, 1964 in Detroit to the late Richard John "Skip" Chambers and Carol Ann (nee: Jaworski) Chambers.

Married in 1999, Daniel was 35 years old when he watched his beloved Elaine walk down the aisle and into his arms as the two shared their vows and became husband & wife at the Assumption Grotto Catholic Church in Detroit. A beautiful ceremony that was held in the presence of family and friends alike, Daniel & Elaine began their lives together immersed in the love that joined them as one and which set them on the path to many happy memories.

For his career path, Daniel was a Design Engineer within the automotive industry having spent 18 years as a sub-contractor with the Tenneco Company, as well as a combined set of years at both the Ford Motor Company and the GM Tech Center. His design capabilities and expertise were highly sought after and utilized for many important projects throughout his career, one that he enjoyed immensely until finally accepting his well-deserved retirement.

Following his retirement, and even throughout his working years, Daniel was known for being quite the "Mr. Fix-It" and always seemed to be dabbling with some project or another. He could fix anything and was often found tinkering around the house making sure that everything was in top-notch condition. And not merely at home, Dan's natural abilities were often exercised at the homes of many-a-family member or friend as well.

When he wasn't working, Daniel was known for being an Outdoorsman Extraordinaire! As a Michigan resident surrounded by some of the finest waters on the planet, it made perfect sense that he would join the ranks of the many boat owners out there and was elated each time he got to put her out on the lakes and open her up! Of course, simply floating on the water had its special moments as well for Captain Dan. Another in the family of "water sports" that Dan enjoyed was skiing. It never ceased to be invigorating every time he slapped those ski's on and the boat took off with him having the time of his life navigating the waves. Yet when it came to skiing, the water wasn't the only venue that drew his attention and excitement,…that was also achieved when the snow started falling as well. For as much as he loved skiing on the water, Daniel found great delight in careening down the slopes on the snow, too. Even though there were similarities in slappin' on the boards with each, snow skiing involved an entirely different aspect of fun and sport for him,…and he ate it up with gusto! With the one, it was all about that nice, cold beverage after a day in the sun, With the other, it was that delicious hot toddy to look forward to once the ski's were put away. Either way, he had loads of fun and created many wonderful sporting memories over the years. And these memories would be terribly remiss if not for mentioning his absolute love for the iconic Ford Mustang! That car simply screamed "Americana,"…and defined some of the finest points of what the Motor Capital has ever produced, and this coming from a design engineer.

Bringing things down to more of his sedate side, Daniel will forever be remembered as one who revered the Lord and loved attending his church, the Assumption Grotto Catholic Church in Detroit. An iconic treasure, to be sure, Daniel's heart & soul were recharged with each visit and service he attended at "The Grotto," a place where he never ceased to be fulfilled and encouraged. And not merely an attendee, Daniel was also one of the church's ushers whose smile and friendly countenance made a world of difference to the many parishioner's whom he greeted and ushered to their seats. Also derived from his servant's heart was Daniel's membership in the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal association of brothers with whom he found great reward in the many charitable outreaches the Knights were known for extending. Daniel was quite faithful to this worthy organization and was most proud to have attained the esteemed level of 4th Degree Knight,…a truly distinguished honor.

But of all that Daniel held closest to his heart, nothing could hold a candle to his unshakable love and adoration he held for his family and the many moments they shared building upon the bond that made them one. As a father, a proud time in Daniel's life was when he was coaching his son's baseball team,…a little bit of Dad, a little bit of sports & mentoring, and a whole lot of love as a father & son came together on the field of dreams. And Daniel also made the trips up north a time to behold and the stuff that dreams are made of as well. Whether simply with family, or friends, or a mixture of both, the "Up North Experiences" never ceased to offer just the right amount of rest, relaxation, fun, and frivolity,…a little bit of something for everybody, and a storehouse of memories to last a lifetime.

Daniel was the beloved husband of Elaine, and the loving father of Christian, Nichole, Matthew, Mary Grace, Bernadette, and the late Blaise. Treasured son of Carol Ann and the late Richard John "Skip" Chambers. Dear brother of Lisa (Jon) West, Laura (Mark) Oliver, Greg (Heidi) Chambers, and the late Gary John Chambers. He was a very special uncle to Braden, Noah, Taylor, Autumn, Meghan, and Otto.

Visitation for Daniel will be held Thursday, March 8th from 3-9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren.

Daniel will lie In state on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church
