Darlene Lucille Buffa, age 77 of Roseville, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born August 11, 1939 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Harold and the late Delima (nee: Soucie) Nantais.
Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, life would ultimately find Darlene relocating to Michigan where she attended private school and received her high school diploma. Detroit is where she remained to raise her four beautiful children, Marcel, DeAnna, Maurice and Denise.
Darlene was a consummate and loving homemaker that brought the best parts of her tender-loving-care to the table,…often, literally. Along with all of the little details that made up her day, (sometimes not so little), one of the most impressionable was found in the food that accompanied mealtime. Whether it was in the food she prepared or other family meals she enjoyed, Darlene loved to dine. Of all her favorites, nothing could top the tasty treats of Tabouli, a hearty Quesadilla, or best of all,…a thick and creamy Strawberry Milkshake. It's been said, "when you're eating, you're happy,"…and these three could easily put a smile on her face and belly.
When Darlene managed to find a little time to herself, one of her favorite pastimes was curling up and losing herself in a good book. She was an avid reader who loved being entertained by the pleasures of a great page-turner. She also loved to travel and see new and interesting sights. But one of her greatest passions in life was simply sharing with others in long conversations. Having a good sit & share session meant the world to her.
Yet of all that Darlene will be remembered for the most, it will definitely be her strong and abiding faith in God. A longstanding and devout member of the Holy Family Church, she loved the church immensely and truly enjoyed engaging with all of her fellow believers. From her faith came a servant's heart that made her an extremely special person. Darlene possessed a sweet and kindhearted spirit that always saw the best in everyone, and touched a multitude of hearts and souls throughout her ministry and journey in life. She loved to help others in any way possible, and was the kind of person who would give her last penny to anyone in need.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Darlene leaves a legacy of love to be embraced with each reflection shared by those who were blessed to know and spend time with her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Darlene was the beloved mother of Marcel DesJardins, DeAnna (Timothy) Evans, Maurice (Jacqueline) DesJardins, and Denise (Larry) Marcantonio . Loving sister of David (Carol) Nantais, Rhoda (Mike) McKenzie, and Dorothy (David) Gray. Treasured grandmother of Olivia, Ortencia (Michael), Morgan, Christopher, Victoria, Julienne, Jonathon (Alyssa), Christian, and Maurice. Special great-grandmother "Mimi" of McKayla, Michael Jr., Joyelle, Blake, and Ivan.
Visitation for Darlene will be held Wednesday, March 8th from 3 - 9 pm, with a 7 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren.
Memorial donations are appreciated to the family.
