David Joseph Shannon, age 79, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. David was born April 3, 1938 in Canton, Ohio, the son of William Shannon and Josephine (nee: Rice).

Very early years for David began in Ohio. At a young age his family moved to Highland Park, Michigan. David was raised in Highland Park and graduated from Highland Park High School. Following his schooling David entered the United States military where he continued his education and served faithfully until being honorably discharged. While in the military, David learned the early technologies of computing which expanded throughout his entire professional life.

Mr. Shannon found employment within the technology field working for Unisys in Philadelphia, and later Lockheed Martin for over 40 years before retiring as a Program Department Manager.

When David was not working, he was an avid collector of guns. He became a Federal Firearms Dealer, along with sharing ownership of a gun shop as well. David was one of the go-to guys for information and specifications regarding different types of guns. He always offered solid advice and took the time with many different inquiries related to his passion.

As David's health began to decline he returned to Michigan to be closer with his family. David was a first class type of guy and carried himself in a first class manner. He and his brother would occasionally travel to Las Vegas where they stayed at first class accommodations along with dining at wonderful restaurants together. David truly enjoyed the fine accomplishments in life and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

David is remembered as a loving son; dear brother. nephew, uncle and devoted friend.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Shannon will be held Thursday, May 18th from 3 - 7 pm, with a 7 pm Sharing of Memories, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren.
