Heart Emblem

Delores Eleanor Busonick, age 87 of Warren, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at home. She was born April 7, 1929 in Detroit, daughter of the late Henry and the late Stephanie (nee: Papciak) Wojciechowski.

When all of Delores' work and family needs were met, her time away from those important responsibilities was found in the enjoyment of a number of passions she held dear. Infused with a bit of gaming in her blood, Delores loved joining in the fun at the local Bingo Hall where she often felt sweet relief in shouting out those winning combinations of victory. Another of her favorites was slingin' the cards during a rousing game of pinochle, an entirely different form of fun that provided she and her card pals hours of satisfaction. There's just something about sitting around the table with friends or family, perhaps enjoying an adult beverage or two, and throwing caution to the wind as you hold that winning hand! Then there was her more active pleasure of being challenged by a good ol' game of shuffleboard. Place that stick in her hand and Delores was like a Jedi Knight with a light sabre,…and the shuffleboard disc her ammo.

Delores was also known for her love of travel. Though she wasn't in the ranks of a globetrotter, she did manage to venture to a few memorable sights that left lasting impressions. One of the most special was visiting the wonder and grandeur of Niagara Falls. Possessing a sense of both majesty and awe, each visit was like the first for Delores as she would take it all in with childlike wonder.

Then there were the creative skills Delores possessed that produced some amazing pieces of clothing and furniture adornments through her knitting and crocheting talents. From the many hats and mittens knitted for her adoring grandchildren,…to the many doilies she tatted for tabletops,…her artistry made some lasting impressions and helped to keep a lot of little ones protected against the march of winter.

Being of Polish decent, Delores was immensely proud of her heritage and enjoyed its many emanations from listening to its iconic music, dancing a polka or two throughout the years, and especially sharing in the many Sunday picnics the family enjoyed together at Warsaw Park in Shelby Township. Throw in a Polish festival or two within the year and Delores was Livin' Large!

Yet of all the joys that touched her heart the most, nothing could match the passion Delores felt each time she was afforded a visit with her family. Her loved ones meant the world to her and each time in their company was more precious than the last. Delores leaves a legacy of love that will forever speak to her caring spirit and will be cherished with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Delores was the beloved wife of the late Michael. Dear mother of Dennis (Elaine) Busonick and Richard (Dolores) Busonick. Loving grandmother of Brian, Stacey (Michael), Kelly (Joseph), Robert, Tammy (Sam), Dawn (Craig), David, and great-grandmother of 11.

Visitation for Delores will be held Monday, December 19th from 5-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.

Memorial donations are welcomed to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
