Dorothy Jean Coolman, age 90, died Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren, Michigan. She was born December 3, 1928 in Huntington, Indiana, the fifth of seven children entrusted to Walton Elbridge and Jeannetta Malissa (nee: Killen) Paul.

Growing up in Huntington, Dorothy's education would culminate with her graduation from the city's Lancaster High School. It is while she was attending Lancaster that she met the young man who would sweep her off her feet, the handsome Richard Coolman. It didn't take long for Cupid's arrow to permeate their hearts,...to quicken love,...and for that love to turn into promises made and vows exchanged in the eyes of family and friends alike. The two lovebirds were married on November 2, 1947 in a beautiful ceremony held at the Salamonie Church of the Brethren in Huntington, Indiana. They were blessed to welcome two beautiful children into the world; son, Paul and daughter, Deborah, both of whom delighted their hearts and whom they found joy in raising. It was when the children were in their high school years that the family decided to pick up stakes and relocate to the burgeoning community of Warren, Michigan where they began a whole new chapter in life together.

Dorothy derived immense joy in staying busy and meeting people. Over the years, she was employed in several sales clerk and receptionist positions within the realms of women's fashion, retail, and beauty salons. She and Richard enjoyed traveling, making trips to Maine, Florida, Arizona, Hawaii and Alaska, with several stops in between to visit family and friends along the way. Dorothy will forever be remembered for her kindness and sense of humor.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Richard. Dearest mother of Deborah (James) Semanson, the late Paul Coolman, and mother-in-law of Sheila Coolman. Loving grandmother of Christopher Semanson, Andrew (Karolina) Semanson, Nicole (John) Phillips, Paul J. (Jordan) Coolman, and great-grandmother of Paul Jeffrey Coolman. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Della Coolman and Jean Paul, and brother-in-law, Lew Dumbauld.

A private celebration of Dorothy's life will be held in the near future. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 25200 Telegraph Road, Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033. (www.alz.org)

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
