Dorothy Prizgint, age 92, died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at her home in Warren surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born February 4, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Vincent Siluk and the late Martha (nee: Slupczewski) Siluk.

Dorothy was raised in both the Hamtramck and Detroit areas, attending St. Louis the King grade school and later graduating from Pershing High School. Dorothy continued her education in business school where she was proud to attain her Associates Degree. Dorothy truly embodied the definition of a hard worker and was employed outside of the house from the age of 14 past the age of 70 years old.

As a young girl, Dorothy worked at the local soda fountain shop,...later at a local dime store,... then at a factory before ultimately settling at Chrysler Motors where she worked as an executive secretary. Even after retiring from Chrysler, Dorothy returned to the workforce as a keypunch operator at Holy Cross Hospital in Detroit. Following her second retirement, Dorothy worked as a "Latchkey Mom" at the local elementary school, and additionally as a greeter at the local grocery store.

When Dorothy was not working, she enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. She and her husband would tow their travel trailer to many areas with their children. Also, she and her husband enjoyed spending time at their northern Michigan cabin.

Following the death of her husband, Dorothy forged a closer bond with her lady friends. All the girls would go out to different restaurants and also visit the casinos together. Additionally, Dorothy was very active with her grandchildren and their many school and sporting activities over the years.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Albin "Al" Prizgint, and the dear mother of Matthew Prizgint, Marianne (Mike) Gregorich, and Michelle (Gerry) O'Neil. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew, Nicholas, and Morgan.

Visitation for Mrs. Prizgint will be held Monday, September 18th from 5 - 9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren. Mrs. Prizgint will lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church (formerly St. Edmund) in Warren. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Bogdan Milosz. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the Capuchin Father's Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207.
