Earlene Margaret Dodson, age 89 of East China, Michigan, died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Earlene was born January 11, 1929 in Detroit, daughter of the late Willie J. and the late Nell (nee: Story) Mobley.

Along with raising a family and tending to the needs of home & hearth, Earlene also worked outside of the home where her skills as a seamstress were highly sought after by a local casket manufacturer. Attending to the smallest details of helping to fabricate appealing interiors for the consumer, Earlene poured the best parts of her sewing talents into each and every casket in her care. Though her work and efforts went unseen by the public eye, she took pride in helping create a product that was appreciated by thousands.

Back at home, Earlene was the consummate homemaker and Mom who loved to cook and clean. Like most women of her era, dinner didn't come in a carry-out container,...rather, through the passed down traditions of creating a meal from scratch. Just give her a stove, an oven, and some preparation space,...then step back and watch the magic happen. Mealtimes at Earlene's was always a treasure. If you left her table hungry, you just weren't tryin'!

When Earlene's cleaning chores were finished and everyone was well fed, some "Me Time" for her often entailed curling up with a good book or an interesting article and enjoying the pleasure of reading. She loved to fill herself with knowledge, as well as entertainment, which could always be found in a good read. And speaking of things she loved, we can't forget the passion she held for our four-legged friends, the many animals she often fawned over with a sincere and unique compassion and care. She was a huge animal lover, without a doubt.

Yet of all the love that surrounded Earlene's life, none could hold a candle to that which she held close at heart for her cherished and precious family. They were the light of her life,...especially those treasured cherubs, her grandchildren. Earlene leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to cherish who were blessed to know her and love her. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey through life,...and now journey's anew, safe in the arms of God. Rest in peace, dear sister.

Earlene was the beloved wife of the late H.B. "Bud" Dodson with whom she was blessed to share 50 wonderful years of marriage together. She was the dear mother of Denise (Robert J.) Franz, Michael Dodson, and the late Daniel Dodson. Loving grandmother of Robert L. Franz, Dayon, Shastina and the late Sol Dodson, and great-grandson, Seth Franz.. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Earlene will be held Saturday, July 28th from 12 pm (noon) until time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. Pastor Tracey Herald will officiate.

Interment will follow at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, 32163 W. Huron River Drive, Flat Rock, MI 48134.
