Edward Anthony Brzostowski, age 94, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at his home in Warren. Ed was born September 1, 1923 in Hamtramck to the late Bronsilaw and the late Dominka (nee: Knopka) Brzostowski.

With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Edward for his service to our country during World War II as a sailor in the United States Navy. Serving for over 3 years from February 1943 to March 1946, Seaman Edward Brzostowski rose through the ranks to his ultimate promotion of Pharmacist 1c (PHM 1c). From his early months at the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois, to his next assignment at the Naval Air Station at Grosse Ile, Michigan, Ed would eventually receive his commission aboard the USS LST 646, the Tank Landing Ship on which he served in the Asiatic Theater of Operations. He, his shipmates, and their vessel were honored to have supported the combat efforts during the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. A proud and decorated veteran, we honor Edward's service and extend our posthumous gratitude for the sacrifices made and his willingness to stand in harm's way for the sake of freedom,...and the wonderful liberties we enjoy because he was there!

Born and raised in Hamtramck, that is where Ed attended school and learned early on that his strengths would be found in numbers. As his education ensued, Ed focused on honing his knowledge of math and ultimately decided to make numbers his career by choosing the field of Certified Public Accounting as his life's work. Throughout his career, Ed was able to help and assist countless family members and friends with their finance needs and hurdles. Edward was truly devoted to his career and extended the utmost in dedicated service until finally accepting his well-deserved retirement.

Ed was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy with whom he was blessed to have shared a wonderful 61 years and 9 1/2 months. She preceded him in death in 2009. Ed was the dear brother of the late Joseph (the late Bernice), the late John, and the late Stanley (the late Alfreda). He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Edward will be held Monday, April 2nd from 3-9 pm, with a 6 pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren.

He will lie in state on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
