Eleanora Poplawski, age 85, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren following a short illness. Eleanora was born October 5, 1932 in Detroit to the late Joseph and the late Lucille (nee: Grabowski) Cieslinski.

Born in Detroit, that is where Eleanora spent her childhood years attending the iconic, Transfiguration Catholic School, the same of which she would become a proud graduate. Following school, she ventured out and spread her wings as she grew in stature and knowledge. Somewhere along the way as her early years were unfolding, a handsome young man happened along her path who would change everything for all the right reasons and in a very beautiful way. His name was Stanley, and what began as a wonderful friendship soon blossomed into a loving relationship that ultimately led these two lovebirds to the altar of marriage at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Detroit. Eleanora was blessed to share many loving years with her groom until his passing in 1971 following a hard-fought battle with kidney disease.

Not long after sharing their vows, the newlyweds picked up their Detroit stakes and replanted them in the new & burgeoning bedroom community of Warren, their place of residence since 1956. It is there that they built upon the comforts of home, raised two beautiful children, and grew deeper in love with each passing day.

Along with tending to the needs of family, Eleanora also worked outside of the home as a Warehousing Agent for the automotive giant in Highland Park, the Chrysler Corporation. She extended over 20 years of loyal and dedicated service to the company until finally accepting her well-deserved retirement.

Eleanora's years were enveloped with a host of varied interests that filled her "me time" in life. But there's no questioning that her deep and abiding faith in God is what meant the most, and often showed in the devotion she held for her church, St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren. A longtime and active member of the parish, Eleanora possessed a servant's heart that touched many lives as she did her utmost to fulfill God's Great Commission by reaching out to others, her own personal ministry that left its impact on countless hearts and souls. Serving God, the church, and its family were always held in the highest regard to Eleanora,…and Heaven is filled by many who received her touch while here on earth.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Eleanora leaves a host of loved ones who were blessed by her place in their lives, and a legacy of love that is sure to be embraced with each reflection shared as life ensues. As she joins her beloved Stanley, may the lessons she exuded, whether quietly or boldly stated, be a guidepost for those dear ones with whom she longs to be reunited,…on that Great Day! Rest in peace, dear Eleanora.

Beloved wife of the late Stanley. Dearest mother of Carleen (Michael) Hentosh and David (Sandra) Poplawski. Devoted sister of Alex (Deanna) Sands, and the late Joseph Cieslinski. Loving grandmother of Samantha (Bryant) Finley and Nicholas Poplawski.

Visitation for Eleanora will be held Sunday, March 25th from 3-9 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren.

She will lie in state on Monday from 9:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren.

Please share memories at Eleanora's guest book above.
