Frances Marie Betteley, almost 94 years of age, died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Rose Assisted Living Center in Clinton Township, Michigan. Frances was born July 10, 1924 in Ferndale, Michigan, daughter of the late William Pyle and the late Anna (Waldner) Pyle. She was raised in Ferndale and graduated from Ferndale's, Lincoln High School.

Frances married the love of her life Jack on April 17, 1948 at Detroit's Epiphany Lutheran Church. It was their own storybook romance, the tale of a guy falling in love with his best friend's sister…a relationship which spanned over 68 years. Together they raised a family in Ferndale.

While raising her children Frances was very active in their upbringing. She was an active member of the PTA and also assisted in the Girl Scouts. As her children grew, Frances began working in the high school cafeteria, working various jobs within the cafeteria for over 15 years. She loved her time working for the Ferndale High School cafeteria where she made many friends over the years. Outside of working Frances' world revolved around her husband and children. The family took many trips camping at the wonderful Michigan camp areas. Quiet time at home for Frances was spent reading or playing the piano.

As the years passed Frances and her husband Jack moved to Warren and became active members of Hope Lutheran Church. Frances volunteered for many of the church functions and also was awarded the Woman of the Year for Hope Lutheran Church. In addition to her devotion to the church, Frances and her husband were avid travelers and shipboard cruisers. Even though Frances and her husband moved from Ferndale they continued to stay connected to their roots and hometown. Frances was the previous President of the Ferndale Seniors Club and traveled to many exotic locations including Europe and Scotland with the group and her husband.

Frances was the beloved wife of the late Jack Betteley, and the dear mother of John (Deborah) Betteley, Joanne (Dennis) Reid, and Janice (Paul) Weiss. Mrs. Betteley was also the loving grandmother of seven, and great-mother of nine,...with one on the way.

Visitation for Mrs. Betteley will be held Tuesday, June 26th from 4-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren.

Mrs. Betteley will lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Hope Lutheran Church in Warren.
