Frank John Lemanek, age 88, died Monday, March 25, 2019, in Warren, Michigan. Frank was born January 6, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Francis Lemanek and the late Francisca (nee: Antoskiewicz) Lemanek.

Frank was raised in a Polish, Catholic household on Detroit's east-side. Following his schooling, Frank worked various jobs before finally settling within the automotive industry. Frank worked for over thirty years with General Motors retiring as a wood model maker at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren. Frank loved the years spent working at GM, and additionally enjoyed his time walking around the sprawling technical center grounds and spending his lunch break by the GM pond.

Frank was a very meticulous person who took great pride in keeping his cars mechanically sound and clean. He was also a perfectionist when it came to cutting his lawn... it had to be cut just right ~ "Frank's way." He was a gifted woodworker who could make just about anything from wood. Frank utilized the many tools and machines for woodworking at the General Motors shop to craft many of his wood creations.

When Frank was not working he could be found at home tinkering, woodworking, or fixing something around the house. He was a gifted wood maker who built many things out of wood including the deck around his pool and his basement bar. Frank loved to take long drives, trips, and vacations with his family visiting different parts of Michigan and Niagara Falls. Frank and his wife visited many of the casinos in Michigan, and especially enjoyed the long drive to the casino in Sault Ste. Marie. Frank enjoyed the drive up and simply walking around the casino more than the gambling aspect of it all. For Frank, visiting the casino was more than gambling. It was the fun, companionship time spent with his wife of 64 years. Frank's other passions included Polka dancing and visiting the auto shows.

Frank was the beloved husband of 64 years to Dolores Lemanek, and the loving father of Sandra Lemanek, Joseph (Carla) Lemanek, Marie (Daniel) Knoche, Dennis (Lisa) Lemanek, and Diane (Patrick) Mackowiak. Frank was the proud grandfather of Cortney Stamm, Caitlin Stamm, Brian (Allison) Mackowiak, Tyler Mackowiak, Trevor Mackowiak, Jacob Mackowiak, Cassie Cardillo, and Stephanie Cardillo. He was the dear brother of Robert (Mary Therese) Lemanek, and the late Joan (Leroy) Korth.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 6th at St. Faustina Catholic Church (formerly St. Edmund) in Warren. The family will receive guests from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 9:30 am.

Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice. Please share memories of Frank at his memory book above.
