Gerlinde Bossung, age 86 of Warren, died Friday, February 22, 2019 at Ascension St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, Michigan. She was born July 25, 1932 in Donsieders, Germany, daughter of the late Adolph and the late Emma (nee: Mörschel) Gerhard.

Gerlinde married the love of her life, Heribert Robert Bossung on June 20, 1953 in Germany,...the couple would have celebrated their 66th anniversary of love and bliss this year. Gerlinde and Heribert welcomed their only son, Karl into the world in 1956 making their perfect little family complete.

In 1958 the Bossung family packed their bags and made a grand adventure by moving to the United States. At first the family lived in Detroit, but eventually settled in Warren where Gerlinde worked hard as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.

Mrs. Bossung, although quite busy, always found time for her faith. She was an active parishioner of St. Dorothy Catholic Church in Warren. Gerlinde enjoyed going to mass with her husband and listening to the word of the Lord.

Gerlinde will forever be remembered for her big heart. She was known to all the neighborhood children as 'Grandma' and thought of them all as her own grandchildren. Although she had many 'grandchildren' from the neighborhood, her two granddaughters, Monica and Nicole, were the light of her life.

Mrs. Bossung loved to cook! She especially enjoyed preparing German Sauerbraten and her famous German Potato Salad. When Gerlinde wasn't cooking, she was spending time in her yard. If there was an empty space in the yard with no grass, she would plant something to grow in its absence. She loved her garden and worked to make the yard absolutely beautiful. She loved growing flowers, but also liked to grow herbs and vegetables as well. The backyard was filled with various flowers, plants, herbs, and vegetables.

Gerlinde was the loving wife of Heribert, beloved mother of Karl (Ann) Bossung, and the dear grandmother of Monica and Nicole.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.

Please share memories of Gerlinde in her guest book above.
