Howard Mark Lang, age 70 of Sterling Heights, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan with his loved ones by his side. He was born January 2, 1948 in Detroit, son of the late Howard and Irene Lang.

Born and raised in Detroit, that is where Howard achieved his academic successes which propelled him towards his next goal of obtaining a higher degree. To further his education, Howard chose Eastern Michigan University to assist him in seeking his Bachelor's Degree,…which he did with business as his major. While attending EMU, Howard was most proud of being accepted into the fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma, and being a part of that brotherhood as they each traveled their respective paths of education and learning,…along with a good dose of fun mixed in to balance it all out, of course. Sharing his fraternal association meant the world to Howard, and made all the difference in his experiences both on and off of campus. And his fraternity experiences were not the only associations that Howard held in high regard, his high school years also held some important and heartfelt connections that impacted his life. We all share some wonderful times with those we meet in high school, but Howard has been tremendously blessed to retain some of those friends with whom he still shares some awesome times and moments. That is truly a testament to Howard and the importance he placed on those he loved and cared for.

Along with caring for those closest to him, Howard was also known for his huge heart and unselfish leanings as he found great joy and reward in serving the public and helping others. This would ultimately lead him to a new chapter in his life as an Owner-Operator of a successful business venture, Alarm Systems Plus (ASP) in Sterling Heights, Michigan. With an entrepreneurial spirit and the charisma to make things happen, Howard was blessed to enjoy a growing company that made a difference for countless customers over the years. He was also quite influential in his association with a local business group, Metro Networking. You can call it the Fraternity after the Fraternity, right?

When work wasn't calling, Howard enjoyed an eclectic array of pastimes and hobbies that provided a perfect mix of work and play. One of these was his love of cars. Hailing from the Motor Capital of the World, being a car lover just came naturally for Howard,…especially when he was taking in all the sights and sounds of the various car shows he visited, as well as the world renowned "Dream Cruise" that always drew him out. Meandering through all of those classics and sharing a flashback or two of days gone by provided Howard with immense pleasure each and every year. And it wasn't just machines on 4 wheels that attracted his attention,…Howard was also quite enthralled with the 2 wheeled beauties, the iconic brand of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Not merely an appreciator, but an owner as well. Hoppin' on the Hog and headin' out on the road with all that "American Power" beneath his grip was both exhilarating and liberating for Howard.

Another of his favorite pastimes was enjoyed on the golf course as he chased after that elusive Hole-in-One. He would have told you that he's no Arnold Palmer, but he sure loved spending his Wednesday's out on the links swingin' the clubs and having fun. Sunshine always helped to make the adventure pleasant, and sharing the sport in the company of his friends made it special. Howard enjoyed lots of great laughs over the years,…and sometimes, some wonderful successes as well.

Yet of all that Howard held most special, the love of family topped the list, for sure! Spending time with loved ones made any event or occasion all the more endearing to him,…especially when it included the brightest angel in his life, his granddaughter Lily. His one & only grandchild, the glow of her smile would light up his life and there was no measuring the love that held those two together. He cherished her, fawned over her, and did his best to be the greatest Grandpa ever,…and he was truly her #1 Grand Papa! Howard leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, one that is sure to warm the hearts of all those who knew him and loved him, and reflect upon him in their thoughts and prayers. He touched and influenced countless hearts and souls in his journey through life, and he will truly be missed immensely.

Howard was the beloved father of Emily, and the late Ashley Lang. Dear stepfather of Darcey Waun and Jeffery Marchione. Loving grandfather of Lily. Cousin of Ron Zyzelewski.

Visitation for Howard will be held Sunday, February 25th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren. His Funeral Service will take place on Monday, 11:00 am at the funeral home.
