Jack Barry Perica, age 68 of Warren, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. A special Christmas Baby, Jack was born December 25, 1948 in Detroit, son of Wilma L. (nee: Webb) and the late Jacob Perica. He was the dear brother of Sandra (Steve) Rinke, and the late Michael. Loving uncle of Erin (Michael) VanGemert, and brother-in-law of Stephen Stewart.

Jack graduated in 1967 from the Paul K. Cousino High School in Warren, MI. He continued his education at the University of Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He later attended Macomb Community College for Tool and Die and the Dorsey Business School, becoming a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Jack was on the high school track and swim teams. For many years after Jack graduated, the 200 yard Medley Relay record of which he was part of, remained unbroken. Jack continued his love of swimming on the U of M swim team, where he was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He remained a devoted U of M Football, Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons fan.

At the young age of 20, Jack earned his private pilot's license. He began his flying in a 2-seater, Cessna 140, and then a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, and eventually graduated to a 6-seater Cherokee Piper Six. His love of flying took him as far north as Kirkland Lake in Ontario, Canada, and as far south as Key West, FL.

In addition to flying, he enjoyed photography, fishing, and hunting, and was an avid pool player on many pool leagues. He also enjoyed taking an annual retreat with his Dad to the Manresa Jesuit Retreat House. However, what may have brought him the most joy were his cats. First was Kim, a chocolate colored Tonkinese, who gave birth in her first litter to the beloved Blue. From a later litter came It, as well as the adoption of Orange. After they passed, he adopted Kali and Kobi (named for Kim, Orange, Blue, and It), and finally, Smokey.

Jack was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He will be missed, but his love of life will live on forever.

A Memorial Visitation & Service for Jack will be held on Monday, May 1st from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski& Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren.

Following his services, the family cordially invites Jack's family & friends to continue their celebration of his life at a gathering being held at Roger's Roost, 33626 Schoenherr Road in Sterling Heights. The restaurant is located just north of 14 Mile Road on the east side of the street.

Memorial donations are welcomed to either the Michigan Humane Society (michiganhumane.org) at 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025, or to the Feline Friends Rescue (felinefriends@comcast.net ~ or search Feline Friends Rescue on Facebook to go to their website) at P.O.
