Jacqueline Jean Abella, age 80 of Pembroke Pines, Florida, died Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit. She was born in Detroit on September 26, 1936, daughter of the late John J. and the late Ella Fay (nee: Adkins) Jankowski.
Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 59 years, Louis Abella. Together, they were blessed to share many wonderful life experiences, raise a beautiful family, and grow deeper in love with each passing day.
As to her employment picture, Jacqueline worked as an Administrative Assistant for the airline industry, a job she held in the highest regard. Yet, in her later years, if you would have asked her what the most special work was that she performed, she undoubtedly would have mentioned her role as Homemaker & Mom. Jacqueline was meant to be a caretaker, and she fit the role like a glove. Like many of her era, Jacqueline was equipped with many of the old world, traditional skills that seem to be waning these days. As in her earlier years, Jacqueline was known for being quite the seamstress. Give that girl a needle and thread, and there was bound to be something either mended or designed through the artistry of sewing. And like many of her peers, another skillful hat she donned was that of the Consummate Cook. Jacqueline often worked some incredible magic within her kitchen, and her dinner table was frequently adorned with all kinds of tasty treats. If you left her table hungry, you simply weren't trying.
As for some of the fun-filled pastimes Jacqueline enjoyed, there was always her love of dancing. She could cut-a-rug with the best of them and knew the steps on most any dance you could throw at her. She even found great delight in the unique and active style of square dancing. But when it came time for a bit more of the subdued style of enjoyable pastimes, it was hard to beat the quiet and peaceful environs that accompanied getting caught up in a good book. Jacqueline was an avid reader and loved devouring the countless literary works that graced her hands. Whether it was expanding her knowledge with something educational or getting swept away in something fun, the simple act of reading opened her mind's eye to all sorts of doors and windows.
Another aspect of Jacqueline's life that will forever warm the heart was her love of animals and the supreme & unconditional love they emanated. She loved all kinds of animals, but of course her "puppies" were the jewels that sparkled the most. Gypsy, Minx and Buffy may have had 4 legs and a lot of fur, but you would have thought that they were children #6, 7 & 8. Truly,…she was a Mom to 5, and a Fur-Momma to 3.
Another trait for which Jacqueline will be delightfully remembered is what a chic & stylish woman she was and how that impacted so many with whom she came into contact. From her mani's to her pedi's, and everything in between, Jacqueline carried herself like a princess. She was always dressed to the nines and exuded a confidence that was quite attractive,…notwithstanding the great outfits she put together. She was forever "the Lady," and Audrey Hepburn would have been most proud.
Her family and friends are surely going to miss her infectious personality, her gregarious spirit, and the great conversations which they shared together,…yes, even the one's between her and Art. She leaves a legacy of love that will be treasured for all eternity. Rest in peace, dear Jacqueline.
Jacqueline was the beloved wife of Louis. Dear mother of Karen Abella, Kathy (Art) Mason, Kim (Victor) Mosqueda, Louie Abella, and David (Maribel) Abella. Loving grandmother of Tiffany, Michael, Jonathon, Brianna, Kayla, Brad, and Loralyn.
Visitation for Jacqueline will be held Wednesday, April 12th from 5-9 pm, with an 7:00 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile Rd.) in Warren. Her entombment will take place at Vista Memorial Gardens in Miami Lakes, Florida.
