Janice Mary Hill, age 68 of Warren, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Seasons Hospice Facility in Detroit. Janice was born January 13, 1948 in Detroit to the late John Gerald and Genevieve (nee: Keeth) Ransom.

Born and raised in Detroit, Janice also spent some time in Highland Park before her journey would begin to blossom and open up new and exciting chapters in life. First and foremost was the Chapter of Love that began with a meeting set up by her sister, Judi with the young & handsome, Dennis Hill. It was a relationship that brought them closer over time and eventually lead them both to the altar where they exchanged their vows on February 16, 1968. The newlyweds chose Warren as the place to call home and is where they built upon the comforts of home & hearth, raised two beautiful children, and grew deeper in love with each passing day.

Along with attending to the needs of family, Janice also worked outside of the home as a Department Manager for the CVS drugstore chain. Following 11 years of loyal and dedicated service to both her employers and the community, Janice accepted her well-deserved retirement at the age of 60. Amidst the raising of family, maintaining a career, and ultimately transitioning into the joys of retirement, Janice & Dennis spent some of their later years enjoying the "Snowbird Life" as part-time resident's of Ocala, Florida. There was just something special (and wise) about escaping the wintry mix of the Mitten for the warmth and beauty of the Sunshine State. In the year 2000, they decided to make it permanent and called Ocala, Florida their home year-round. No more shoveling snow and shivering for these two lovebird's.

When it came to Janice's pastime enjoyment, you could easily count OUT anything to do with sports. Sports was certainly not the channel of choice for her television pleasures,…but, now, the "ID" series was something that always beckoned her name. Another of her favorites was found in the soothing and angelic sounds of Celine Dion. For Janice, the iconic music that Celine made popular became some of the most moving music of her life.

Yet of all the things that brought Janice joy and happiness, the best & brightest was embodied in her four cherubs, her grandchildren; Cody, Richard, Gabriel, and BrookLynn. An extension of the immeasurable love she already held for her children, Timothy and Tina,…she was now able to wrap herself in the special and genuine love that can only come from the heart of "Grandma." They were the light of her life and meant more than words could ever describe. Each moment in their company was another opportunity for Janice to express the deep and abiding adoration she held for them.

Though her grandchildren were the welcomed recipients of her special love, they certainly weren't the only benefactors of Janice's love and care. She touched many hearts and lives in her journey through life and leaves a legacy of love for all to embrace who were blessed to know this giving spirit. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Janice was the beloved wife of the late Dennis. Loving mother of Timothy (Dawn) Hill and Tina (Rich) Stepka. Cherished daughter of Genevieve L. and the late John G. Ransom. Dear sister of Joan Ransom, John (Jannet) Ransom, James (Patricia) Ransom, the late Joseph Ransom, the late Judi Maloney, Joyce (Ken) Wroblewski, Jerome (Pam) Ransom, Kathy (Bob) Velasco, the late Michael Ransom, Richard (Marilyn) Ransom, and Donna (Kevin) Bass. Adoring grandmother of Cody, Richard, Gabriel, and BrookLynn. Devoted master to 3 Daschounds; Bridget, Sheba and Jasmand,...and 2 cats, Oliver and Baby.

Visitation for Janice will be held Saturday, January 14th from 3 - 9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Eulogy Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren.
