Jennie Teresa Kopacki, age 92, died Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida. Jennie was a longtime resident of Warren, but had become a full time resident of Florida where she's lived for the past ten years. Jennie was born September 28 ,1925 in Detroit to the late Antoni and the late Anna (nee Matusiak) Grzelak.

On September 28, 1925, Jennie Kopacki (nee: Grzelak) and her twin were born to Antoni and Anna Grzelak in Detroit, Michigan, her twin lived only for a short time. Jennie was one of 6 children, four brothers and one sister. With her mother passing away when Jennie was only 10 years old, her 18 year old sister, Mary, raised Jennie and her siblings.

At the age of 16, Jennie's father gifted her a bicycle and she continued to ride most of her life. She had to leave school early to go to work to help with family finances. Jennie's jobs included working for a teacher, babysitting, and cleaning houses. At the age of 21, Jennie went to work for Champion Spark Plugs where she met, and later married, her husband, Edmund. Together, Jennie and Edmund continued to work for Champion Spark Plugs for more than 40 years.

After many years of dedicated service, Jennie accepted her well-deserved retirement at the age of 62. Even after retiring, she hung on and continued to work for an additional year before calling it good. Later, she helped a friend's mother by cleaning her house. For 18 years, following her retirement, Jennie continued to enjoy her life as a Michigander through the beginning and mid-term of her golden years. But when she hit that "80" mark, she heard that little voice calling her name from the warmth of Florida saying; "Jennie,...c'mon down!" And so she did. She exchanged the wintry mix of the north for the sunshine of the south and became a resident of America's Sunshine State. Not merely a Snowbird, but a full-fledged Floridian.

A loving wife, Mom, and sister, Jennie leaves a legacy of love true to the wonderful lady everyone knew her to be. She left joy behind wherever she went,...she impacted countless lives with her infectious personality,...and she touched a multitude of hearts and souls as she journeyed through this life. She will be adoringly remembered with each reflection shared, and will truly be missed.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Edmund in 1976. Jennie was the beloved mother of Roseanne (Carlos) Latorre, and the dear sister of Frank Ruskowski. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and her twin sister who died shortly after birth.

Visitation for Jennie will be held Friday, January 12th from 10:00 am until time of her funeral service at 12:00 pm noon at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
