Jessie May Daugherty, age 87, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Ascension St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Jessie was born July 6, 1931 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Price Stanley Overcast and the late Jessie Katherine (nee: Elliot) Overcast.

Jessie was raised in Tennessee and later moved north, during the 1950's, to Michigan in search of work. Arriving in Michigan, Jessie lived with her sister Helen, and later met Bob Daugherty from Gielico, Tennessee and the two set up a household in Detroit together.

Jessie and Bob eventually combined children and family in their home in Michigan. Jessie brought her two children up from Tennessee to join the growing household. Bob worked for Chrysler Motors and Jessie as a Press Operator.

Jessie was known more affectionately by her family as "Sugar" because of her sweet and kind personality. She and Bob loved celebrating all the holidays with their children. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she would cook a big meal and also dress up as Santa to surprise the children with presents. Jessie was extremely generous with all of her children and family. She had a keen ability to remember all of her family member's birthday's and special dates. She will be forever remembered as a loving and kind woman.

Jessie was the beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Daugherty, and dear mother of Ronnie (Louise) Overcast, JoAnn (Jim) Pringle, Pam Smith, Karen (Jim) Williamson, Robert (Cathy) Daugherty, Patricia (Larry) McKay, Connie (Jack) McKay, Terry (Nicole) Daugherty, and the late Sherry Calomeni-Daugherty. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one surviving sister.

Visitation for Mrs. Daugherty will be held Friday, October 12th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.

Please share memories of Mrs. Daugherty at her memory book above.
