Joann Ziarko, age 75 of Sterling Heights, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township,Michigan. She was born April 5, 1942 in Detroit, daughter of the late Walter and the late Lottie (nee:Osiecki) Bzdera.

Married to the love of her life for over 50 years, the journey Joann shared with her beloved Henry began by the sharing of their vows together at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren. It was a life filled with many joys and blessings, the greatest of which was found in the person of her son, David.

Along with the responsibilities of being a wife and mother, Joann also maintained a job outside of the home in the service industry as a skilled laborer. Possessing strong work ethics and a desire to do her best, Joann extended the utmost in dedicated service throughout her employment.

When work was done and her home was in order, Joann enjoyed a number of pastimes, one of which was spending time up north at the tourist's mecca of Mackinaw. She loved the water, and it doesn't get much prettier than the waters that flow under the Mighty Mac. And not merely at Mackinaw, there were a number of scenic splendors she enjoyed through her love of traveling. Getting out and chewing up the scenery was one of her favorite things to do as she built upon her portfolio of places enjoyed over the years. And though the destinations were plentiful that filled her travel book, there was no mistaking that one of the premium spots was always the trips to the casino. Known for being a gamer who loved giving Ol' Lady Luck a run for her money, Joann loved the sights and sounds that embodied the casino experience,…especially when the bells & whistles were announcing her a Winner!

As for the pastimes she enjoyed at home, Joann was noted for being quite the gardener and poured the finer points of her tender-loving-care and green thumb into nurturing her living creatures planted in the yard. Her garden was a thing of beauty and a testament to the passion she possessed when it came to her gardening pleasures. It was a lot of work, but a job that came with great rewards. Then there was her version of exercise which came in the form of bicycle riding, a little exertion that paid off by incorporating a bit of scenic splendor while putting the muscles through their paces.

But of all that brought her joy and pleasure, nothing could hold a candle to the elation she felt in the company of family. Family meant the world to Joann and she poured the best parts of her love and compassion into their care. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey through life and leaves a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to embrace who were blessed to know her. She will truly be missed.

Joann is survived by her beloved husband Henry, and their son, David Ziarko.

Visitation for Joann will be held Friday, September 15th from 3:00-9:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road ) in Warren.
