Heart Emblem

Kathleen Allport, age 74 of Sterling Heights, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland-Hospital in Warren. She was born June 7, 1944 in Detroit, daughter of the late John and the late Mary (nee: Dean) Lapinski.

Kathleen was known for her love of reading, especially when it came to her favorite genre, Mysteries. When she was able to find a little "me time," Kathleen found immense enjoyment in simply curling up with a good mystery book and chewin' up the pages. Of all the excellent writers of mystery, her premiere author was the esteemed Dean Koontz. When she wasn't being regaled by one of her books, Kathleen was often given to enjoying a bit of television entertainment,...particularly the old John Wayne westerns. Hailing from a time when "The Duke" was huge, there simply was no getting enough of the man that was taller than life.

Kathleen was also a bit of an outdoor lover, and each year brought her something special,...the annual Armada Fair. We all become a kid again at the fair, and Kathleen knew that feeling all-too-well. There just so much to keep the senses alive and entertained. The sights & sounds,...the smell of the tasty treats being prepared as the aroma fills the air,...it was just part of the joys and pleasures Kathleen took away following each visit to the fair. The outdoors also provided Kathleen another of her favorite pastimes, picking strawberries by the basket full. With basket in hand, Kathleen's forage through the strawberry patch was always quite "fruitful."

And with the tender heart God gave her, Kathleen will always be remembered for her love of animals. Her furry, four-legged friends made a huge impact upon her life and they had no greater supporter than she.

Mrs. Allport was the beloved wife of the late William. Dear mother of Kenneth (Alyssa) Allport, the late William Earl Jr. (Kathleen Cook) Allport, and the late Joseph Allen (Kimberly White) Allport. Loving sister of Patrick (Miriam) Lapinski, and sister-in-law of Mary (Casimir) Kruczynski, John Allport, James (Deb) Allport, and Michael Allport. Kathleen is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom she loved beyond expression.

A private entombment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren.

Please share memories of Mrs. Allport at her memory book above.
