Kenneth C. Konwinski, age71, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Kenneth was born March 27, 1946 in Presque Isle to the late Casimir J. and the late Amely M. (nee: Budnik) Konwinski.

Ken and Margaret were married nearly 54 years and were devoted to their large, loving family. He enjoyed traveling and the family camped for many years. Some favorite vacations were to Pigeon Forge in the Smoky Mountains, New Orleans, New York City, Oklahoma, and Hawaii. The family can recall many vacations to the house up north on Black Bass Bay, boating, sightseeing, visiting with family, and having enormous campfires. A favorite location since childhood, Ken loved taking rides to "the outlet" on Lake Huron.

Ken worked for 35 years as a Road Inspector for the State of Michigan Department of Transportation. Following his retirement in 1997, he started a new career doing similar work for Hubbell, Roth, and Clark Engineering Company. He retired for a second time after 10 years and has enjoyed a happy retirement since.

Until the time of his illness, Ken liked working around the house. He especially liked keeping a beautiful lawn and riding his John Deere mower up north. No one on earth could get to the laundry faster, and it was said that one might get out of the shower and the clothing that was worn before it was already washed and folded. Many plays, concerts, sporting events, parties, graduations, and other activities were spent with his grandchildren, who adored him.

After being diagnosed with lung and brain cancer, Ken continued to be a strong fighter. He endured endless treatments, testing, surgery, and hospital stays and never complained. During his last days, he was surrounded by family at all times and was able to express his love with small communication and endless kisses for anyone who was in puckering distance.

Ken's legacy in his loving wife, Margaret, and his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren will live on. He was a gentle soul and everyone who met him could see his loving devotion to his family. He will be eternally missed by all who knew him.

Ken was the loving husband of Margaret A.; the beloved father of Kellie (Russ) McPhee, Kevin (Sonyia) Konwinski, Keith (Kelly) Konwinski, Kendra (Steven) Burgin and Kenneth (Natalie) Konwinski; a dear grandfather of Kristal (Jamey) Cook, Justin (Whitnee) Konwinski, Emma Burgin, Alexandra Konwinski, Taylor Konwinski, Madeline Burgin, Luke Burgin, Gabriel Konwinski, Maisie Konwinski, Erin Konwinski and Asa Konwinski. Brother of Wilbur (Geri) Konwinski.

Visitation for Ken will be held Wednesday, March 21st from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren, Michigan..

His Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
