Laurence William Bauman, age 78 of Warren, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Ascension St. John Hospital, Warren Campus. He was born January 29, 1941 in Detroit, son of the late Laurence Herman and the late Ruth Rose (nee: McDonnell) Bauman.

An automotive engineer for GM by day, Larry's time off was spent being engrossed in something entirely different than most. So when the chores were done and the "Honey-Do" list was met, he and his honey were off doing something unique and artsy as members of the Michigan Woodcarvers Association. Established in 1993, the association was formed to help foster camaraderie among fellow woodcarvers, enable members to improve their skills, and to promote woodcarving to the public. Together, Larry and his wife, Norma became members in December of 2004 and have been devoted to the association ever since. With painstaking effort and the patience of a saint, woodcarving involves an entirely unique set of skills and, at times, an eye for the meticulous,…all of which Larry possessed in spades. His collection is rife with various sized masterpieces, some so tiny that it boggles the mind they were done with the human hand. Larry garnered immense satisfaction in sitting back and seeing his finished product, but none-so-much as seeing the wonder on others' faces as they beheld his works.

A memory Larry held quite precious, (and Norma still does), was the amazing Alaskan cruise they shared together back in 2011. From the luxurious pampering to the mighty vistas that took their breath away, cruising to Alaska was truly a highlight of the many memories they made while sharing in their joy-filled years of marriage.

Laurence was the beloved husband of Norma Lee for over 47 wonderful years, and the loving son of the late Laurence and Ruth Bauman.

A Memorial Service for Laurence will be held at 1:00 pm on May 5th at the Church of God of Prophecy, 600 North Campbell Rd, Royal Oak, Michigan 48067.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren.
