Lorraine Julia Beauchemin, age 84 of Warren, Michigan, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Detroit, daughter of the late Jake and the late Genevive (nee: Marlinga) Nowak.

A consummate homemaker and Mom, Lorraine poured the best parts of the tender-loving-care she possessed into her family and making sure their needs were met and their home was always a sanctuary.

It's been said that the work of a housewife and Mom is never done, but Lorraine managed to include some moments of fun and entertainment into her life to achieve a comfortable balance. One of these was her love of visiting the zoo, especially when she shared the experience with family and friends. A lover of animals, Lorraine simply enjoyed a sense of solace as she walked through the park and took in all the sights & sounds the wonders of the zoo provided.

Another favorite pastime was enjoyed each time she visited the casino to give Ol' Lady Luck a run for her money. There was always a wonderful mix of excitement and anticipation that accompanied her gaming delights,…and Lorraine always came away the "winner" whether she left with extra money or not. Lorraine also found great pleasure in each shopping experience she enjoyed. Shopping was a pastime where she could often get swept away by the glamour and dreaming of things wished for,…and on occasion, purchased. When she was looking for a little "me time" outside of the house, the mall was often her favorite destination.

Lorraine will also be remembered for her deep and abiding faith and how it infused her life with a reverence that was felt by all who knew her. Lorraine was a devout Catholic and a faithful attendee at church where she loved sharing her faith and friendship with all of her fellow parishioners. It was a special community that provided a lifetime of growing and nurturing memories that bolstered her faith and beliefs.

Being of Polish descent, Lorraine's heritage was quite important and precious to her and something of which she held immensely dear. Having paid close attention to the skills of her ancestors, Lorraine became an outstanding cook,…especially when it came to that delightful Polish cuisine. Like many Polish Mom's out there, Lorraine could whip us some incredible magic in the kitchen when her Polish roots kicked in. And for as much as she loved Polish cooking, she was also quite the Polish dancer as well. To watch her on the dance floor as she kicked up her heels in a rousing polka was a thing of beauty,…and incredible invigorating.

Yet of all that brought her the most joy and pleasure, it was her dear family and friends that made the greatest impact upon her heart. They were the light of her life and each of them meant the world to her. The moments they shared were precious, and the memories made were the kind to last a lifetime. Lorraine touched countless hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven, and she will be immensely missed as her journey continues on the other side. May she rest in peace, safe in the arms of God.

Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Jerry. Dear mother of Allen (Mary) Beauchemin, Kenneth Beauchemin, and the late Jeffrey Beauchemin. Loving grandmother of Shelby and Alisia. Sister of the late Bernardine Legumina.

Visitation for Lorraine will be held Thursday, April 26th from 4-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren. She will lie in state on Friday from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 E. Twelve Mile Road in Warren. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
