Margaret Ann Beam, age 77 and a longtime resident of Warren, Michigan, died Thursday, August 16, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born February 14, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late William Howard Tomlinson, the late Betty Ruth (nee: Plastow) Tomlinson, and stepdaughter of the late James Elwart.

Margaret was raised in Detroit and graduated from Denby High School on Detroits eastside. Following her schooling it was not long before she fell in love and married John Beam on July 21, 1962.

The young couple settled into their home in Detroit and two short years followed before their first son John was born. Margaret loved her life as a "stay at home" Mom, but as time passed and the children were fully involved with school, she returned to the workforce.

Margaret worked as a Title 1a school teacher within the Warren Consolidated School District for many years before retiring. Her family and children always seemed to be paramount in her life and the many lives she touched as the consummate educator and leader of youths will forever be remembered.

When Margaret was not working she was known to her family as the Queen of QVC. She loved to shop, only second to maybe visiting a casino. She and her husband shared the love of casinos and even visited Las Vegas together. Margaret loved games, playing cards especially pinochle, along with playing Bingo and Yahtzee. Additionally Margaret kept an immaculate home both inside and out, where she tended to her beautiful floral gardens.

In her earlier years with her family, Margaret and her husband camped with the children and traveled much of Michigan. Later in life her grandchildren became her focus, along with hosting the many holiday celebrations especially Christmas. Margaret enjoyed having all of her family at her home for any occasion.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late John Beam, and the dear mother of John (Lorie) Beam, Jim (Vicki) Beam, and Nancy (Jonathan) Hoppe. She was also the loving grandmother of Lydia (Matt), Johnathan (Katelynn), Dalton, Katelyn, Johnny, Magan, Laura, Brett, the late Jessica, and great-grandmother of Trevor, Travis, Rowen, Aiden, Jensen, and a baby girl on the way. She was the treasured sister of Dorris (the late Ken) Wenterine. Mrs. Beam is further survived by her cherished Schnauzer, Bella and many loving family members and friends.

Visitation for Mrs. Beam will be held Sunday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Beam will be held Sunday Evening 7pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Hoppe officiating.
