Heart Emblem

Margaret Sharon Menessa, age 71 of Sterling Heights, died Friday, January 25, 2019 at Windemere Park Assisted Living in Warren. She was born March 28, 1947 in Hamtramck, Michigan, daughter of the late William and Genevieve Burdelski.

For over 10 years, Margaret was one of the smiling & energetic faces who greeted the customers that visited her store, the ever-popular New York Carpet World. She was a beautiful presence who did her best to bring beauty to the lives of others through their home décor. Margaret possessed a comforting spirit that bode well for customer service and made her job a perfect fit for her personality.

When she wasn't working, one of her favorite pastimes was traveling,…with one of the prime destinations being either Naples or Miami, Florida. Though her travel portfolio was rife with other wonderful and scenic places visited throughout her life, it was the Sunshine State that she seemed to gravitate towards for a little R & R.

Another of Margaret's pastimes was relished right within her own backyard through her joy of gardening. Infused with a green thumb and the tender-loving-care of a horticulturalist, Margaret tilled the soil and nurtured her garden so skillfully,…one could be moved to wonder if she was secretly a botanist in disguise. Her garden was a thing of splendor and beauty; an extension of the artisan that lie within.

Yet of all the activities that stirred Margaret's soul with the utmost in happiness, little could hold a candle to the bliss & elation she derived from shopping. Some might say that she was a shopaholic,…but we'll just call it a "Shoppin' Jones!" And just imagine her delight when the shopping networks began popping up on the television,…she was in pure ecstasy. (You mean you can place an order on TV, then it will show up on your porch,…just like that?) Well, amazement simply scratches the surface of the 21st Century world of shopping that Margaret became accustomed to,…and QVC had no better, nor more faithful customer than she.

A hard worker, traveler, gardener and shopper,…this little bio would be sadly remiss if not to mention Margaret's devout faith and her love for the Lord. Devoted to her Catholic beliefs and upbringing, she had the spirit of a saint and the patience of Job. And it was so much more than simply attending church,…as Margaret faithfully studied her Bible and enjoyed partaking in the various Bible studies amongst her peers and fellow believers. Catholicism and Christianity were the benchmarks of her faith, and the foundation on which she stood. She spent her life seeking God, and now rests safely in His arms.

Margaret was preceded in death by husband, Al Menessa, and is survived by sister, Marsha (the late Robert) Shaw, and cousin Dennis (Renee) Schnabel Jr., Dennis Schnabel Sr., Jeri (Tom), and Janice. Margaret was the loving friend of Susan (George) Donovan, Mary Tobey, Karen (Neil) Wood, Ann LeBlanc, and Diane (Dave) Murner.

Margaret will lie in state on Thursday, January 31st from 9:00 am until time of her Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Blasé Catholic Church, 12151 Fifteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights.

Following Mass, Margaret will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Road in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
