Marie Stawski, age 94 of Warren, died January 25, 2018 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born December 7, 1923 in Hamtramck, daughter of the late Adam and the late Edna (nee: Jaracz) Maciejewski.

After Marie had accomplished all of her tasks for the day and found a moment to herself, quite often this entailed putting her hands to work with a needle and thread on a sewing project. Whether she was creating something special or simply mending a hole or tear, Marie was from an era where most all women not only possessed the skills needed for seamstress work, but often enjoyed the light duty it required. But sewing wasn't the only pastime where she enjoyed using her hands, she was also quite adept at crocheting as well. With all the necessary materials at the ready, coupled with her unique artistic flair, Marie created many wonderful pieces over the years that were both useful and decorative.

Yet Marie's talented hands were noted for aiding her in another enjoyable pastime,…tending to her garden. From sewing, to crocheting, and the apt requirements for nurturing the growth of a garden, these were all familiar skills that many people knew and managed in days gone by of which Marie engaged with her own brand of finesse,…especially when it came to her precious garden. She was always proud of the fruits of her labors, and her labors were infused with just the right amount of tender-loving-care.

In her earlier years, Marie was no stranger to the dance floor. Coming from a time where television didn't draw so much attention and smartphones weren't even a blip on the social radar, favorite things to do often called us out of our homes and into the realm of "living." Back in the day, one of these venues was the local dance hall or ballroom, places that were rife with fellow dance enthusiasts,…and Marie was one of them. So many people from past generations shared this pastime and it seemed like ballrooms were all over the place filled with dancers tripping the light fantastic, and Marie truly enjoyed being swept away by the music. And for a little more of the quiet pleasures, Marie could often get swept away by curling up with a good book and getting lost in its pages, She loved to read and found those times both entertaining and calming. It was a balanced pastime that she coveted greatly.

But of all that brought her joy, nothing could match the fulfillment that "family" provided,…especially when it came to her treasured cherubs, her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. There was always a special glow and sparkle in her eyes each time she shared their company. Together, they shared so many cherished moments and created memories that will live on forever.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marie touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey through life and imparted a love and care that is sure to be embraced with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Walter. Precious mother of James (Denise) Stawski, Karen (Peter) Hilss, and Sharon Stawski. Loving grandmother of Rebecca, Adam, Christopher, David, Matthew, Sarah, Jessica, and great-grandmother of Anthony and Noelle.

Visitation for Marie will be held Tuesday, January 30th from 5-9 pm, with a 6:30 pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common, (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren.

She will lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 E. 12 Mile Road in Warren. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
