Heart Emblem

Mary Elliott, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2017 at her home in Warren, Michigan surrounded by loving family members. She was born on February 18, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan.

Mary met her husband Stewart when they both worked at Michigan Bell in Detroit. They shared their first date on May 20, 1947, and were married a year later on June 5, 1948. Mary and Stewart were happily married for almost 69 years and lovingly raised their family of three daughters in both Redford and Warren. Mary also worked at Meyer Jewelry in Troy, Michigan. She enjoyed movies, music, Las Vegas and television.

Mary had the most giving and loving heart and cared deeply about her beloved husband and family. She was a gentle soul with a generous nature and strong will,…especially when it came to protecting and caring for her loved ones. Her beauty, style, smile, gift of gab, and sense of humor are fondly cherished and forever remembered by her loved ones.

Mary is survived by her husband Stewart; her daughters, Joan (Jack) Cawood and Debi Elliott; her seven grandchildren, Michele Cawood, Christine Cawood, Stephanie (Sean) McPherson, Jack (Chelsea) Cawood, Shelby (Scott) Eckard, Shana Goodrich, Chelsea Houthoofd; and her five great-grandchildren, Parker Eckard, Amelia Eckard, Lucy McPherson, Archer Cawood, and Estelle McPherson. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dena McFail; her daughter, Sharon (David) Sieradzki; and her sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Waite and Edna (John) Matthews.

Mary requested a private funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who assisted in caring for her during her last illness.

Memorial donations are welcomed to the Alzheimer's Association, 25200 Telegraph Road, Suite 100, Southfield, Michigan 48033-7443.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren.
