Norman Leonard Szewczyk, age 92, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Norman was born June 27, 1925 in Hamtramck, Michigan, son of the late Benjamin Szewczyk and the late Anna (nee: Bielak) Szewczyk-Feirer.

Norman was raised in Hamtramck and the Detroit area, later finding work with Fisher Body in Detroit where he was employed as a Production Clerk. Norman proudly served in the United States Navy with the SeaBees unit. Following the end of World War II, and upon receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, Norman returned home to Michigan where he became active with the Hamtramck VFW Post 4404. Norman served as Commander of the Post twice. He actively supported all veterans and provided a helping hand anytime he was able.

Norman was the beloved son of the late Ben and Ann (Feirer) Szewczyk. He was the dear brother of Delphine (the late Steve) Horvath, late Lorraine Makoski, and the late William Szewczyk. Uncle of Mark (Mary) Makoski, Kay (Tim) Sittaro, and Merle Warner. Norman was also survived by his nieces and nephews; Dominic, Steven, Rebecca, Zachary, Marissa (Brian) Cherry, Mark Makoski, and Joshua Sittaro.

A Memorial Visitation for Norman will take place on Sunday, July 30th from 3-4 pm, with a 4pm Prayer Service and VFW Poppy Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. The service will immediately be followed by the rendering of Naval Military Honors in recognition of Norman's service to our country during World War II.
