Heart Emblem

Patricia Darlene Eveland, age 82 of Warren, died Friday, August 24, 2018 at home. She was born June 3, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Edmond and the late Anne (nee: Hakes) Sewell.

Though Patricia spent a chapter of her life working as a press operator in the manufacturing industry,…like most Mom's out there, her greatest work was effected in attending to her family and taking care of their needs. Having been blessed with five beautiful children, the work was never done but was gladly accepted. But whether it was time away from the job or simply a little "me time" between chores, Patricia did enjoy a few escapes that helped to bring balance amidst the life of a very busy woman.

One of those escapes was enjoyed in her passion & knack of scoping out those great deals at the various garage and estate sales in the area. Always on the prowl for that fantastic piece of memorabilia, Patricia could smell a deal a mile away and was equipped with just the right acumen for dickering with the best of them. There's always a sense of sweet victory whenever you're able to talk a price down, and Patricia certainly experienced that sweetness often.

Along with much of the housework she did that required skillful hands, Patricia also utilized her hands for creative purposes as seen in the many different pieces she designed and fabricated through her skills in crocheting. Not only great exercise for the digits, but her fingers and hands managed to weave some incredible magic over the years through the practice they received…one piece at a time. Patricia was also quite adept at solving puzzles and had many puzzle books at home as proof of the joy she knew in putting her brain to work in solving them. Possessing a knowledge of words that was mind-boggling, she could while away the hours getting lost in the pleasures of puzzling. And of course, like many of us, a little R&R was often found by having a sit in front of the television enjoying her two favorites,…the Lifetime Channel, and the myriad crime shows that filled the tube from night to night.

Yet of all that brought her the most joy in life, nothing could hold a candle to the love and passion she held for family,…especially those sweet cherubs she called her own. And speaking of cherubs, God certainly graced Patricia's life with a quiver full of grandchildren, 15 at last count, but it didn't end there. Those cherubs became parents as well and brought Patricia 33 more hearts to covet as a Great-Grandmother,…and from those came 3 more little ones to give her the title, Great-Great Grandmother, one which is known to only the few. There's no doubt, Patricia was blessed to have so many lives surrounding hers that made life so much worth the living,…and she was grateful. Family and friends meant the world to Patricia as she knew that is what makes it all go around. One life touches another, but it's even more special and meaningful when you can call them your own. She leaves behind a legacy of love that is strong and true, a legacy rich with humor and lessons she passed down throughout her entire life. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Patricia was the beloved wife of the late James Eveland. Dearest mother of Rick, Collene, Fred, David, and the late Darlene. She was the loving grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 33, and great-great grandmother of 3.

Visitation for Patricia will be held Tuesday, August 28th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren.

Her Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan.
