Richard Joseph Maladecki of St. Clair Shores passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 92 years of age. A native of Detroit and Hamtramck, he was the son of Frank and Charlotte (Lottie) Maladecki.

Born in 1927, Richard was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served with honor to include assignments with the United Nations as a transportation specialist.

Additionally, Richard was employed in both production and marketing management positions for 40 years with the Chrysler Corporation.

As for some of his favorite pastimes, Richard found great enjoyment being out in the fresh air while boating on the many waters that make up our great state. Being outdoors also had its pleasures each time he hit the links for a game of golf. Forever in search of that elusive Hole-in-One, there was always great fun to be had while swingin' the clubs amidst a sunny day on the golf course. Then there was the joy he received by tinkering around out in his garden. Possessing a green thumb and the tender-loving-care of a horticulturalist, Richard nurtured his garden of flowers from the heart,...and its splendor was enjoyed by all who were blessed to partake of its beauty.

Richard enjoyed all genres of music and performed as a drummer for 30 years with several regional polka bands. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Cotter Council #1874 in Warren, a fraternal order in which Richard was honored to serve for over 67 years.

Richard was married to Delphine (nee: Felcyn) Maladecki until her death in 2007. Dear father of Richard Maladecki and Dave (Angela) Maladecki. Loving grandfather of Logan, Courtney, Megan, Jason (Bonnie), Stephanie (Chad), Sara (Jeff), and great-grandfather of Noah, Hunter, Raelyn, and Harper. Brother of Gerald (Joann), the late Robert, the late Norbert, and the late Patricia.

Visitation for Richard will be held Friday, May 10th from 3-9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.

He will lie in state on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren. Interment, with military honors, will immediately follow Mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Memorial donations are welcomed to the Capuchin Ministries, 1820 Mt. Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207 (www.cskdetroit.org), or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)
