Music Emblem

Richard Michael Orlo, age 80 of Bruce Township, died Monday, March 12, 2018 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Oakland Center in Madison Heights, Michigan. He was born May 20, 1937 in Detroit, son of the late Michael Bernard and the late Helen (nee: Swojke) Orlo.

A mason and cement finisher for most of his life, Richard worked hard and long hours to help fulfill the dreams of countless lives through his construction and renovation skills. There's many structures out there whose brickwork has Richard's signature all over them.

As for some of Richard's pastimes and things he enjoyed when not on the job, he was forever intrigued by everything having to do with astrology and the zodiac. From the horoscopes in the paper, to the many avenues that support the belief system of the stars, Richard never ceased to be amazed and in awe of all that enveloped this age-old study.

Richard will also be remembered for his love of music and its soothing touch upon his soul. Not merely a listener, he was also known for his natural abilities in writing music as well. Music seemed to pierce his being in a special way, and could often make a beautiful difference in the day.

Yet the Grand Daddy of his favorite escapes just had to be his attraction to the game of chance. Whether at the horse racing track or the mother lode of casinos in Las Vegas, gambling provided Richard an immeasurable amount of pleasure. Giving Ol' Lady Luck a run for her money was a challenge he lived to accept as often as he could.

So between seeking positivity and encouragement from the stars, looking to his music for a little comfort, and going for the win at the casino, Richard had all of his bases covered when it came to being entertained and whisked away from the stresses of life,…and life was good!

Father of Karen (Jim) Craib, Pam (Jeff) Spring, Ken (Kelley) Orlo, Donna (Eric) Knuth, and Tina (Pat) Kensicki. Brother of Lorraine Juntti. Richard is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren.
