Virginia Stefanek, age 90, died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Virginia was born and raised in Hamtramck, Michigan the daughter of the late Louis Sticklinski and the late Stella (nee: Trawinski) Sticklinski.

Virginia attended St. Florian Catholic grade school, and later the high school. Following her schooling she joined the workforce where she held many different jobs throughout her life. Virginia worked at J.L. Hudson's Department Store as a waitress in the store's restaurant. Her skills as a server were also realized at the Hazel Park Raceway, as well as the Fantasy Bowling Lanes. Aside from her work in food service, Virginia's resume also included some time spent in the automotive industry where she was employed as a press operator for many different automotive suppliers.

Virginia married Thaddeus Stefanek and the couple eventually settled on Detroit's Northeast side. While living in Detroit, the couple raised their three children and attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Virginia was a wonderful homemaker with a gift for cooking delicious homemade meals. She and her family cherished the memories of spending time at their cottage in Grand Bend, Canada.

As life continued to march on and Virginia's children were grown, the couple enjoyed traveling to many locations in Michigan, visiting Florida during the winter months, and also taking long trips out west which included visiting Lake Louise, British Columbia, Canada. Unfortunately, Virginia lost her husband much too early into his retirement, so her attention re-focused on her grandchildren. The "Grandkids" were her pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them and their families. Virginia will be forever missed, and remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Thaddeus "Ted" Stefanek, and the dear mother of Greg (Sandy) Stefanek, Janice (Terry) Owczarski, and Thomas (Debra) Stefanek. She was also the loving grandmother of Teddy (Kelly) Owczarski, Erica (Sherif) El-Alayli, Christopher (Melissa) Stefanek, Julie Langer, Laura (Joe) Aiken, Colleen (Jeff) Kayl, and Alexander Stefanek. Virgina was the cherished great-grandmother to her 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stefanek was the sister of the late Arthur Sticklinski and is further survived by her sister in-law, Lucille Sticklinski.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.

Memorial donations, in Mrs. Stefanek's name, are appreciated to Special Days Camps, PO Box 436, Dimondale, MI 48821, https://specialdays.camp
