Viktor Raag, age 93 of Warren, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren.

He was born on March 4, 1919 in the country of Estonia, son of the late Karl and the late Anna Raag.

Born and raised in Estonia, Viktor was a true "Baltic Son" who spent his early years in his native homeland, as well as some years in the neighboring country of Latvia. As early adulthood set in, he answered the call to duty in the Estonian Legion where he served with pride and was decorated for his service and bravery.

Viktor was blessed to live a long and fruitful life, much of which can be attested to the fact that he was a hard worker and always kept himself busy. Whether it was tinkering in the yard or working on projects around the house, the term "idle" just never applied to Viktor. He was forever "on the go" and made each moment count. Another aspect that Viktor claims kept him young and spry was his "2 beers-a-day rule." Every day, religiously, he would enjoy one beer in the afternoon and one in the evening, and was convinced it was the key to his longevity. And who can argue with over 93 years under his belt?

Viktor was also quite the people-person and truly enjoyed having friends over to his house. One of his favorite pastimes was regaling his guests with the many stories he treasured while growing up in Estonia and Latvia. He was part of a close-knit group of friends with ties to his homeland and enjoyed being swept back through all the wonderful memories. As for his family, he loved them immeasurably and was always there when somebody needed a hand. He was firm and forthright, but always with a heart of gold. Viktor leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered for the unique and genuine man he was as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Beloved husband of the late Vaike. Dear father of Rita Raag, and the late Riho (the late Carol) Raag. Loving grandfather of Karl, Aprile (Dave) Holland, and Christopher. Devoted uncle of Hele, Aili, and Sirje, all of whom reside in Estonia. He was preceded in death by siblings; Linda Ollman, Lore Kala, and Riho Raag.

Visitation for Viktor will be held on Thursday, December 13th from 3-9pm, with a 6pm Eulogy Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. His Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Nelli Vahter. Interment will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Memorial donations are welcomed to the Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
